Tonight we finally finished decorating our apartment for Christmas. Now to neatly store all the packaging…tomorrow. A little late to do it tonight.
We had tons of fun, and this year, we had an onlooker.
This is our new Scout Elf, Glorfy. My author of a hubby chose the name…thanks to Tolkein and the Simarillion. 😉 After all, and Elf must have an Elvish name, right? I promise, I’ll update you daily as to what mischief Glorfy gets into…or doesn’t get into.
I’m writing as our children watch the Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol. I absolutely love this time of year. The magic in the eyes of children everywhere. The kindness that people show to others.
I was reminded while reading a blog post by Jeromy Deibler of FFH, about the “longing” of Advent. The Israelites were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the prophesied Messiah. They longed for him to come and deliver them for a final time. I want to have that longing for Christ everyday.
I’m striving to focus daily on an Advent scripture, so today I leave you with this one.
Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—
yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.
And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
Isaiah 11:1-2 NLT
