I tend to be a quiet observer. That is just my personality. I like to sit in the background and pay attention to every detail of what is going on around me, be it minute or epic events.
This is something I have been doing over the past few weeks. Watching God work to bring new life to His church and His people.
How do I know God is at work? Because the enemy is working harder.
“The theif’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10
This scripture and those that follow (John 10:11-18) paint a perfect picture of how this happens.
Let’s face it, we, as children of God, are sheep. Sheep are dumb. We get comfortable. We get complacent. We get…well even more dumb. God tries to move us to be about His work, but we are comfortable and pull against His guidance. Our Good Shepherd, removes “idols” of our comfort from before us, and we whine and complain because “that’s how it’s always been before.” Change of any sort scares us to the core of our being. Why is that?!?! Do we not profess that God is the One Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Alpha and Omega?! Do we not tell the world that we FULLY trust Him with our lives?
Have the Attitude of Christ
1 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
6 Though he was God,[a]
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[b];
he took the humble position of a slave[c]
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,[d]
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:1-11 NLT
Paul clearly lays out to the Philippians what it is to have the attitude of Christ. If we, as the body, could only live it out. We would impact more lives for the Kingdom! Society laughs at our bitterness and bickering! So what if I choose to worship in a way different than you! What matters is not how we worship, but isn’t it WHO we worship! Can’t we get back to that simplicity?
Let’s not let the enemy win! Take these signs of trouble as reassurance that God is working…the enemy is simply trying to sabotage us. We need only rise up and overcome!
