Excuse me for a few moments while a vent a little frustration. 🙂 (Don’t worry…it isn’t that bad.)
So, what is my frustration? The many photos like you see below, that I see on facebook multiple times a day.
Is there anything wrong with these pictures? Well, no, there isn’t. So why do they frustrate me so?
Because, I hope I don’t have to share or like your picture for people to know I love Jesus!!
Yes, they are harmless little pictures, links, and quotes, but don’t they just encourage a facade of religiousness?
“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ – Matthew 7:21-23 NLT
So, what’s my point. Being a child of the King is so much more than just saying “I love Jesus!” It’s a lifestyle of loving God and living for God! Honestly, you shouldn’t have to say to someone that you love Jesus, they should see you loving Jesus.
Do you sacrifice your time by going to church, reading the Word, helping others, etc? Do you sacrifice your resources for service of the Father? Do you do all of these things with a joyful heart?
I know there is no such thing as a perfect Christian. We’re human, therefore we fail…miserably. So, if your reason for avoiding being part of a church family is that you see so many of them not being perfect in the real world…then I’m sorry. You’ll never find a church to be part of. The body of Christ is made up of imperfect people, and guess what, that will only change when Christ returns!!
So, are you truly a child of the King? Beyond speaking words…beyond posting pictures…beyond surface level!!
“Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you–unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. ” 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 (NLT)
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice–the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s perfect will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)
“Of course, your former friends are suprised when you no longer plunge into teh flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.” – 1 Peter 4:4 (NLT)
This is honestly my prayer for all of you, that you would fully understand the wonderful blessing it is to be a child of the King! It’s HARD, but it is perfectly wonderful!
