“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 (AMP)
As we’ve entered another stage of stepping out in faith and are continuing our journey of just following God’s leading, I’ve been struggling with what to pray.
God is allowing us a peek at a few doors of possibility, but that is all they are right now, just possibilities. We hear Him saying, “Just be patient, have unwavering faith, and follow Me.”
As a family in ministry, we want nothing more than to follow God’s perfect will for us. But, I have one deep heart’s desire that won’t go away. Those who know me well, can probably figure out this country girl’s desire pretty quickly.
So, how do you reconcile the two? I don’t want my possible selfishness to influence my prayers for guidance…but then again, what if it is God who is placing this strong desire within my heart.
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Romans 8:26-28 (NLT)
It’s times like this when I am so very thankful for a personal God. He knows my heart’s deepest desires and understands them. If my desires are not inline with His perfect will, I know that they will change as long as I fully seek Him.
If I may ask, join me in prayer. Pray that we will clearly see and know God’s will and path for our family, and will desire to follow Him no matter where He leads.
