Some days we just need a little extra encouragement, don’t we?

The past few weeks, for me, have been tough ones for many reasons. But in the midst of it all, my Abba Father has been so faithful to speak comfort into my heart.

We are His children! He loves us more deeply than we could ever fathom!

Today, as I was praying over my quiet time, the Spirit drew me to James. I sometimes forget how much I love this book. Yes, there is encouragement here, but James also gives us many reminders to check-up on our heart attitudes.

When we feel wronged, it’s human nature to lash out. That’s not our Father’s nature, and we are to reflect Him.

I encourage you today, pray & read through this short book. Take a look at your reflection in God’s mirror. Are you reflecting Him or the world in word and deed?
I definitely need to do some polishing on my reflection today!

**Father, thank You for Your mercy! Thank you for love us and allowing us to be imperfect children, but also for reminding us to strive to perfectly reflect You! Help us to daily check our heart attitudes for anything that is not of You. Heal our brokenness and help us to live in the fullness of Your joy everyday! Amen!**

Be blessed!

Being Crafted

God brought this blog post back to my heart last night. Reminding me of it’s meaning and not only its personal implications, but also those that are for His church. He is refining all within His body of believers. Church, allow Him. He is the Master Craftsman.

Jesusfreak Mommy

Over the past several years, like many, I’ve had spiritual ups and downs.  This is how it goes it seems.

I’ve talked with several people about the struggles of being a Christian.  For some strange reason, many in the world have the idea in mind that being a Christian is a life filled with ease.  (HA!)  Being a Christian is more like a process of being hand crafted by the Maker of the world from a rough hunk of rock into His perfect vision.

Now think about that a few minutes.  What must the Craftsman do to achieve His vision?

First, He begins break away all the excess.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you future and a hope.”  Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

What part of that process sounds easy?  Imagine His tools…

Nothing about this…

A little nerdy-ness

Anyone who knows our family, knows that we are a quirky, nerdy little bunch.  And we love this about ourselves.

We embrace our fandoms (maybe not as enthusiastically as some) and consider you a close friend if you understand them.

Now to the point…

The hubby and I have a tradition of collecting coffee mugs.  Every 5 years for our anniversary, we commemorate with a mug.  (Of course, we also mark vacations with the purchase of mugs also…if we find one that suits the occasion.)  With the purchase of our anniversary mugs, we try to sum up the past 5 years of marriage.

Year 5 we spent at Disney, so we, of course, purchased our favorite Disney Character Mugs.  Marking 5 years of fun together.

Year 10 we went more traditional with some mugs from our local Christian bookstore.  These marked growth & maturity in our marriage over the past 5 years.

This year we celebrated 15 years.  As we looked back over the past 5 years, it was easy to see what we needed to look for in our mugs.  The past 5 years included a total surrender to God & a move of faith to attend seminary.  It included making new friends. As introverts, we both struggle in this area…but God is great & provided there as well.  It also is when we discovered the fun found in fandoms.  And there are many we love, so finding the perfect mug has been difficult to say the least.  Yes they exist, but the perfect marker has eluded us.  Well, that is until I stumbled upon an image I LOVED during a google search.  It was FANTASTIC! (Please read that in your best Nine voice…and if you don’t know what that means…I’m so, so sorry.)   Only, it wasn’t for sale.  So I started reading the blog a little & discovered that Amy at Milk and Cookies would probably be fast friends if we actually knew each other.  So I took a shot in the dark and emailed her asking if she’d be interested in making a mug for me to purchase.  Long story short, we had great conversation and I ended up with vinyl cut outs that she sent so I could create this.

(Thanks again, Amy!  I truly adore it!)

Now, we’re still looking for one for the hubby, but he’s got an idea.

Homeschool: Where to Start?

I had hoped to create a printable of some sort for my first post, but life prevents things sometimes.  So, as I sat and pondered a new plan, I thought that maybe I could share a few of my favorite homeschooling blogs.

This list is by no means comprehensive, just a few highlights.

Just a few of my favorites…and the ones I came through first while sorting through my mass of links. 😉

Christmas Worship – 4 Days

I wanted to share with you a few of my Christmas favorites over these last few days leading up until Christmas Day.

I pray you are blessed by them.

How would it be if we all had a heart like Mary?  Young, devoted, terrified, willing.

That’s why I fell in love with the following song and it’s message.

“I am not brave
I’ll never be
The only thing my heart can offer is a vacancy
I’m just a girl
Nothing more
But I am willing, I am Yours”

“In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to the Galilean village of Nazareth to a virgin engaged to be married to a man descended from David. His name was Joseph, and the virgin’s name, Mary. Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her:

Good morning!
You’re beautiful with God’s beauty,
Beautiful inside and out!
God be with you.

She was thoroughly shaken, wondering what was behind a greeting like that. But the angel assured her, “Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus.

He will be great,
be called ‘Son of the Highest.’
The Lord God will give him
the throne of his father David;
He will rule Jacob’s house forever—
no end, ever, to his kingdom.”

Mary said to the angel, “But how? I’ve never slept with a man.”

The angel answered,

The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
the power of the Highest hover over you;
Therefore, the child you bring to birth
will be called Holy, Son of God.

“And did you know that your cousin Elizabeth conceived a son, old as she is? Everyone called her barren, and here she is six months pregnant! Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.”

And Mary said,

Yes, I see it all now:
I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve.
Let it be with me
just as you say.

Then the angel left her.”

Luke 1:26-38 (The Message)

Be blessed!
